Establishing Institutional Effectiveness (IE) policy can seem like herding cats. It can seem like everyone is trying to go in a different direction with no pattern in mind. This workshop is designed to lay out basic procedures that not only make life easier for IE personnel, but leave the institution better positioned to speak to accreditation standards and expectations. In this workshop, Drs. Thomas and Asbury will share experiences and lessons learned across multiple institutions, serving in and supervising IE offices.  Workshop topics will include:  managing ‘survey flow,’ establishing a process for data requests, institutional Fact Book, transactional vs frozen data, gaining support from the top, data audits, and more! After attending this workshop, attendees will increase their knowledge in developing policies in IR/IE, will be able to articulate the interconnectedness between office policies and accreditation processes, and will gain knowledge of specific strategies that have been

This presentation will delve into how we designed a PowerBI dashboard for multiple years of National Survey of Student Engagement data at the University of Vermont. While the example will show NSSE data as the specific example, and PowerBI as the specific dashboard tool, this presentation is designed to give users the big-picture tools they need to get any survey data they need to work with into a dashboard format. Transforming the dataset and thinking through the questions that your dashboard layout will be designed answer is the vast majority of the work that goes into any dashboard project. The data transformation and manipulation presentation will be shown in SAS, but the presenter will have outlined steps for the process so that this will be tool agnostic.
