NO one enjoys a hard conversation. Not the one on the receiving end, and certainly not the one required to deliver. Sometimes, hard conversations simply need to happen, but NO one wants to be the bad guy so we: - AVOID it like the plague. Nothing changes or issue gets worse. - SUGAR COAT it, resulting in major misunderstandings and quite often a much larger issue. - BARGE in like a raging bull cornered in a china shop with no plan and devastating results. If YOU have found yourself challenged by hard conversations, THIS workshop is for YOU. The three biggest issues with these most frequently used tactics, Avoiding, sugar coating or raging bull, is everyone loses, the problem doesn’t get solved and it’s not necessary.Participants of this Workshop will learn Six Ways to WIN/WIN:
1. Identify your GO TO tactic.
2. Overcome barriers
3. Identify the real issue
4. Increase clarity, improve understanding.
5. Handle strong emotions.
6. Commit to action.

Training a new employee, graduate assistant, or student worker on the various data systems, office processes, and analytical tools in your IR shop? This presentation will cover the process and documentation that one office has used to help anyone new to an analyst-related role get acclimated quickly (and how we try to spread the love of all things data). Some of the materials that will be shared in this presentation have also given colleagues in other units and student leaders the tools they need to feel confident with their own data usage as well! This presentation will include information on project & process documentation, common code compilation ideas for SAS users, tool guides for SPSS and Access, and survey guidance/sampling design.
