Details Matter: Strategies for Enlisting Survey Participation

Event Description
This 90-minute workshop will focus on best practices for enlisting survey participation to achieve robust response rates. The workshop will begin by considering the concept of non-response error and current challenges associated with achieving high response rates for online surveys.
Participants will be introduced to an influential conceptual framework for understanding the survey response process, and will learn the following:
1) important aspects to consider when crafting a survey invitation (and accompanying subject line);
2) communication and promotion strategies (including reminders, LMS pop-ups, and incentives);
3) strategies for fostering a healthy institutional survey climate, and
4) key survey design considerations (overall length, question clarity, visual design).
This workshop is designed to benefit those tasked with designing and conducting "homegrown" or "ad hoc" surveys, or administering surveys conducted by external organizations (e.g. NSSE, COACHE).
No prior knowledge about surveys is needed to benefit from the workshop.
