The Institutional Research Systems Analyst & Developer assesses and improves existing and new institutional research databases to enhance quality and availability of data in addition to providing support with all manner of data preparation, extraction and manipulation for analytics initiatives. Assesses the current state of data repositories, works collaboratively to make corrections and improvements and contributes to Institutional Research activities.

Job Details
Position Responsibilities
  • Assess and improve existing and new institutional research databases to enhance quality and availability of data.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology, end users and key stakeholders in the development and implementation of data architecture and standards in support of CSCU’s long-term strategic goals.
  • Determine and document how data repositories can be aligned and improved.
  • Evaluate quality of data in current repositories to identify gaps and inconsistencies for correction.
  • Assess accuracy and troubleshoots data inconsistencies between data extracts from and to student information system repositories, provide documentation to guide end users to clean and maintain data, update or develop code as necessary.
  • Develop linkages to and between new data sources.
  • Provide support for data integration of third-party interfaces utilizing web API’s and/or flat files.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation and write specifications to guide system development including the design of data models for a system-wide data warehouse.
  • Coordinate with staff at all CSCU institutions to further data governance efforts.
  • Participate in data governance activities and workgroups as needed.
  • Access data from Banner Enterprise System, Oracle data repositories and other data systems.
  • Extract and prepare data to fulfill requests. Conduct analysis and write reports.
  • Assist department with institutional research responsibilities.
  • Assist in support and training of end users; provide user assistance and direction for self-service reporting tools; create user guides and facilitate data literacy of stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to cross-train as necessary and support a cooperative work environment.
  • Operate as team member both at the system and institution level; Serve on committees as required.
  • Perform other duties related to those above which do not alter the basic responsibility of the position.
