Brief Description
The IR analyst position is central to the mission of the College and the effectiveness of FlightPath, the College’s student success initiative. The IR Analyst will play a central role in all institutional research activities including, but not limited to, working with staff, administrators, and faculty to strengthen a program of institutional research and analysis to support enrollment, advancement, assessment and accreditation and other operations.
Under the supervision of the Director of Institutional Research & Effectiveness the IR analyst will help to coordinate, monitor, and support all institutional and educational assessment activities. The analyst will bring to their work: experience in research and reporting, statistical analysis, research methods, and working with databases; an ability to report findings succinctly using relevant tools and media; experience with assessment of student learning/educational effectiveness and institutional progress.

Job Details
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Preserve IR reporting cohorts supporting institutional, state, federal, and accreditation requirements
  • Develop and maintain predictive models for retention and progression of students
  • Conduct analysis of the effectiveness of student intervention and assistance efforts
  • Analyze the impact of coaching and advising on student retention and persistence
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of admissions and financial aid policies
  • Participate in modeling efforts to predict student yield, discounting, and net-tuition revenue, and analyze the impact of recruitment initiatives
  • Perform recruitment funnel analysis by region, inquiry source, major, etc.
  • Assist in the preparation and follow-up of reports for the University’s institutional accreditation agency
  • Create and maintain documentation for institutional research projects
  • Assist in the monitoring of the overall integrity of data, complying with state and federal requirements and has a firm conviction to uphold data integrity, correct data discrepancies when noted
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Social Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics or related field required; equivalent experience may be substituted
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience in data analysis
  • Experience using database software and/or statistical software
  • Knowledge of research methods suitable to academic settings
  • Familiarity with Tableau / Microsoft BI (or similar visualization software) strongly desired
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills including critical evaluation skills
  • Demonstrated intermediate skills with Microsoft Excel
  • Effective organizational and interpersonal skills including communication skills
  • Attention to detail and strong time management skills
