Job Details
Description/duties
  • Develop and implement strategies to assess and continuously improve the overall quality and effectiveness of campus programs and services in accordance with the vision, mission, goals, and strategic priorities of the institution
  • Collect, analyze, interpret, and present institutional data with appropriate recommendations to support planning, assessment, administrative operations, grant development, and overall institutional effectiveness
  • Lead the collection, analysis, and timely submission of institutional data requested by the U.S. Department of Education, New York State Education Department, State University of New York, Middle States Commission on Higher Education, and other oversight agencies
  • Coordinate the technical and administrative plan for collecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and submitting datafiles required for SIRIS (SUNY Institutional Research Information System)
  • Respond to routine and ad hoc requests for data and information from the President, the executive cabinet, faculty, and staff as well as requests from commercial and other external entities
  • Chair the College’s Data Standards Committee and lead efforts to ensure that institutional data is accurate, reliable, consistent, and remediated if necessary
  • Plan, develop, administer, and analyze campus surveys, including graduate follow-up surveys, nursing reaccreditation surveys, SUNY-sponsored surveys, and other ad hoc surveys used to support the College mission
  • Develop the annual Institutional Effectiveness Report Card and present its findings and recommendations to the President, Board of Trustees, and the broader campus community
  • Provide guidance and support to other departments regarding the connection between goal setting, strategic planning, process improvement, and resource allocation
  • Provide leadership and oversight for the development and implementation of strategic initiatives that impact institutional effectiveness
  • Provide data to support the Assessment of the Major process, including demographic and program enrollment trends, retention and completion rates, transfer student destinations, post-completion employment, and other data points used in the review of academic programs
  • Research and analyze employment statistics to support academic program development
  • Conduct risk assessments as well as enrollment and financial projection analyses to support budgeting and long-range planning
  • Provide assistance and support for regional and programmatic accreditation activities
  • Support academic and non-academic assessment efforts throughout campus, in accordance with the College’s Institutional Assessment Plan
  • Work collaboratively with the College’s Non-academic Assessment Committee to support administrative departments with the collection and analysis of data
  • Support the College’s efforts to secure grants and contracts from outside funding sources
  • Supervise staff within the department, as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum qualifications
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in research, assessment, higher education administration, or other related field
  • Two (2) to five (5) years’ experience conducting research or assessment in a college setting
  • Knowledge and experience with Oracle SQL and the Ellucian Banner enterprise system
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience developing and administering online surveys
  • Strong organizational skills and a high attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on team-based projects
Preferred qualifications
  • Doctorate from an accredited college or university in research, assessment, higher education administration, or other related field
  • Qualtrics Core XM or Core XM Expert certification
  • Experience with Campus Labs assessment software
  • Experience teaching in a college or university
