Class Description
The purpose of this position is to perform professional level technical work in data management, data analysis, and report preparation to support the institutional research, assessment, and decision support activities of the Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation. Multiple positions available. Compensation within the posted range is determined by a candidate's education level and/or years of experience in the field. Generally, employees are hired in the lower third of the scale.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a social science, business, or similar discipline that includes course work in research design, statistics and data analysis. Master’s degree preferred. Two (2) years of work experience in institutional research or business analytics. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel and SPSS or other statistical software.
Class Specific Essential Duties
Develop and maintain data files.
Perform analysis of quantitative and qualitative data.
Serve as point of contact for internal and external organizations.
Prepare and analyze reports, as requested.
Assist College departments, faculty, and/or staff, as required.

Support key activities related to planning, institutional research, outcomes assessment, or program/project evaluation such as
developing relational databases, developing and maintaining complex multiyear data files, merging files, segmenting files, recoding variables, and evaluating data integrity.
assisting with internal program evaluation and the design of research projects related to developing appropriate metrics and measuring outcomes associated with college initiatives and accountability projects.
supporting grant development and monitoring of progress toward grant project goals.
running descriptive statistics, parametric and non-parametric tests, and generating appropriate visualizations for results; or
assisting in the development of survey research projects. This includes collaborating with various department and college staff regarding appropriate survey design and methodology, assisting with survey set up and completion monitoring, analyzing survey results, and preparing summary reports
Develop and maintain data files, derived from internal and external sources, to support assessment and reporting activities.
Use software applications to analyze, prepare reports, and present information. This includes developing tables, graphs and narrative interpretations of information using applications such as: SPSS, MS Excel, Access, PowerPoint and publishing tools like Word and Adobe Acrobat.
Create and maintain documentation on data analysis and report methodology to ensure consistency across reporting cycles.
Complete reporting and assessment tasks to fulfill internal and external requests as needed.

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access)
Skilled using SPSS or other software package that supports quantitative data analyses.
Skilled using Power BI, Tableau, or other software that supports business intelligence and data visualization. Knowledge of higher education systems and ability to communicate effectively regarding enrollment trends, environmental and demographic changes, student success measures, and accountability measures and metrics.
Ability to apply investigative methodology to problems and the presentation of results. Ability to create high quality reports that include supporting data charts and tables.
Ability to provide the college community with reliable, relevant, and high-quality data and information to facilitate planning, accountability, program and service evaluation.
