As a member of the Analytics and Strategic Initiatives Center (ASIC), this position reports to the Director of Institutional Research. The Senior Data Analyst conducts survey research, performs statistical analysis of institutional data, and fulfills ad-hoc data requests. The ideal candidate will have experience with data analysis, strong written and oral communication skills, facility with data handling, and the ability to effectively visualize and communicate results. Most importantly, we are looking for someone with an interest in and understanding of higher education, a solid foundation in data analysis, and a willingness to learn new skills as needed.

Job Details
Primary Areas of Responsibility include:
  • Leads the survey research functions at ASIC, from survey design, to data collection, analysis, visualization, and dissemination of results to key stakeholders;
  • Conducts quantitative analysis of institutional data for operational and planning purposes;
  • Serves as a data subject matter expert and shares insights with campus partners to bolster data-informed decision-making;
  • Responds to internal and external data reporting needs, as well as ad-hoc requests related to survey data and institutional data;
  • Extracts and consolidates data from multiple internal and external sources, including relational databases, text files, statistical files, and web services;
  • Investigates, validates, and documents data quality and integrity;
  • Prepares and validates compliance reports and data submissions;
  • Trains and supervises student workers;
  • Performs other duties as assigned and based on departmental needs.
Required Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree, with coursework in research design, statistical analysis, quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • Two years of experience in institutional research, or experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to iteratively persevere in search of solutions to complex problems.
  • Knowledge of the methods and procedures used in quantitative and qualitative analysis of survey data, using various computer software packages is required (Qualtrics, Tableau, Excel, SPSS, or comparable).
  • Experience summarizing quantitative analysis of survey data, including descriptive statistics, data visualization, and report writing.
  • Familiarity and experience with institutional research vocabulary and federal reporting (IPEDS), as well as public sharing of institutional data (Common Data Set, Factbook, and publishers’ surveys).
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
