ACCESSing IPEDS: An Alternative Approach for Compiling IPEDS Survey Data

Event Description
Many institutions utilize IPEDS survey data for various projects and internal reports. Unfortunately, using the IPEDS data tool to accomplish this can often seem unintuitive and limited, especially when working with large datasets. To remedy this, experienced data users can utilize the survey data in Microsoft Access format, as provided by NCES. Attendees will leave this workshop with knowledge of the IPEDS Access Databases, including general information about their structure, helpful tips for querying data, and ideas for utilizing the databases for easier reporting.
Software Requirements:
Any version of Microsoft Access 2007 or later
Microsoft Excel 2007 or later - need to be able to view .xlsx documentation files
Need 600 MB of free space in an available drive in order to download decompressed database file
