Brief Description
Under general direction of the Director of Data Science, the Enrollment Data Analyst will support the Division of Enrollment Management (DEM) as part of a two-person team working within Institutional Research and Effectiveness. The enrollment data analysts will support informational needs identified by senior leadership related to enrollment management and the student life cycle. This work will require close collaboration with the Registrar, Student Financial Services, Admissions, Advising, other offices related to the DEM. Supported by institutional research, data engineering, and data science the enrollment data analyst will be dedicated to supporting the information and reporting needs of the DEM throughout the student lifecycle and academic calendar.

Job Details

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Establish a reporting schedule and set of information products to address informational needs at the university in close collaboration with the DEM.  This work will involve using data from administrative systems used by Student Financial Services, the University Registrar, Admissions, and Advising.  
  • Design, develop and monitor dashboards for the University community to support data-informed decisions across campus related to enrollment management and relevant administrative systems.
  • Work with analysts and senior leaders across the University to help to understand and fulfill the analytic needs using Tableau and the Central Analytic Platform.
  • Gather business requirements and participate in an agile dashboard development lifecycle.
  • Answer ad hoc analytical questions using Business Intelligence toolset.
  • Support the response to data requests by external parties and coordinates with Institutional Research for federal and state reporting and with Data Science for internal requests.  
  • Assist in preparing presentations and graphics supporting the DEM.
  • Evaluate the impact of university communications, recruitment travel, and admission events on prospect-to-applicant conversion rates and admitted student yield rates.
  • Attend and present at both regional and national conferences on various enrollment management related topics.
  • Serve on data, research, and IT-related campus and system-wide committees.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in statistics, economics, business, information technology or other related discipline and a minimum of four years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Experience creating and using data dashboards.  
  • Experience with Tableau strongly preferred.
  • Experience with SQL, preferred.
  • Strong understanding of higher education administrative data.  
  • Previous higher education experience preferred. 
  • Strong understanding of data summarization and interpretation. 
  • Experience with student administrative data preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Strong analytical and logical thinking skills
  • Able to learn independently and work effectively with a wide range of data.  Must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with ever-changing data systems.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, define tasks, and follow through is essential, as is the ability to fully document in writing all developmental activity related to information reporting.
  • Ability to work independently. Strong interpersonal skills, as well as excellent oral and written skills are critical.  
  • Must be an effective listener, able to distill complex data and information requirements from a wide range of requesters into responsive data and information products. 
  • Must be a team player to ensure consistent business rules, look and feel and branding across the Central Analytic Platform.
