Brief Description
This Research Analyst II position in the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment (IRA) is part of the Assessment and Evaluation team. This position provides research and data analysis used to inform planning and decision making, assessment of student learning and aspects of institutional effectiveness. With limited direction, the incumbent is required to design and execute appropriate research methodologies and data collection processes for a variety of issues important to the university, including but not limited to, university-wide course and teaching evaluations and placement assessment for incoming students. Other duties, as assigned.

  • With limited direction, develop research methods to respond to requests for information/data from leadership and other university stakeholders.
  • With limited direction, design and implement a robust course and teaching evaluation research agenda and respond to ad-hoc requests for course and teaching evaluation data.
  • With limited direction, design and implement a robust placement assessment research agenda and respond to ad-hoc requests for placement assessment data.
  • Analyze datasets using SPSS, Excel, Access, R, and/or other software.
  • Retrieve and analyze data from the university student records system using SQL and other query tools.
  • Support the Periodic Program Review process, including preparation of standard and custom data reports.
  • Effectively organize data into graphical and tabular presentations.
  • Effectively communicate information and research results both written and orally.
  • Assist in the monitoring and management of the university’s assessment reporting process.
  • Extract data/information and generate summary reports from submitted assessment reports.
  • Provide support and guidance to university constituents on research/assessment design.
  • Conduct background research, such as literature reviews, benchmarking and/or internet searches, and summarize findings.
