Job Details
Research Activities and Survey Consultation - Works with Associate Provost and Associate Director to provide leadership on institutional research activities—60%
  • With OIR leadership, coordinates research project and analysis activities across the institution and assists in the development of appropriate metrics for measuring programmatic and institutional effectiveness.
    • Ensures research and evaluation activities are evidenced-based and guided by best practices;
    • In collaboration with OIR leadership, designs and conducts quantitative and qualitative research projects on areas of importance to the institution.
  • With OIR leadership, works to develop a comprehensive approach to institutional analyses and investigations.
  • Advises and collaborates with divisional and department leaders on the planning and execution of research analyses and investigations;
  • Works with OIR leadership to provide research and analysis support to the President, Provost, and other divisional leaders for Board of Trustee meetings and other important institutional events;
  • In collaboration with OIR leadership, determines the most appropriate methodology to be used in conducting research studies using institutional data and surveys.
  • Develops best-practices for analysis of institutional data to ensure student privacy is maintained and risk to the institution is minimal.  
Analysis of Survey, Institutional, and External Data – 25%
  • Performs detailed statistical analyses of survey data using appropriate software.
  • Performs analyses of survey data collected from samples of student populations using appropriate methods (i.e, applying sampling weights, adjusting for non-response);
  • Performs analysis of data from institutional databases, ranging from simple reports to sophisticated statistical modeling and projections;
  • Prepares results of analysis in formats appropriate for various audiences and occasions (i.e., written reports, data visualizations, Tableau dashboards, PowerPoint slides, graphs /charts, tables);
  • Assists in presenting survey results using Tableau or other media as needed;
  • On an ongoing basis, reviews higher education and statistical research literature to identify emerging research approaches and methodologies to apply them to the Dartmouth setting.  
OIR Reports and Publications – 15%
  • Assists in producing OIR standard reports including the Fact Book, Common Data Set (CDS), and other institutional dashboards;
  • Assists in compilation of data for external reporting, including IPEDS, COFHE, AAUP, and guidebooks.  
  Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others.
 Performs other duties assigned.
