Brief Description
Working with fellow IR&A team members, campus stakeholders, and colleagues in the Center for DATA, this position will conceive, plan, and coordinate survey, research, and reporting projects that support decision making by leadership and other key campus constituents across the University System of New Hampshire, with a primary focus on Keene State College.

Reporting to the Director of IT Institutional Research and Assessment, the Sr. Institutional Research Analyst will build collaborative relationships with campus clients to enable the ongoing assessment and fulfillment of data, analytic, and reporting needs related to enrollment, the student experience, student success, and other strategic priorities and initiatives. Leveraging resources and skills within IR&A and the larger Center for DATA, this position will meet those needs with timely, accurate, and relevant data and analysis and will communicate analyses in appropriate formats to key campus stakeholders. This position will also participate in or lead projects involving collaboration/coordination across all three institutions served by the IR&A service line.

Duties/Responsibilities: 
NEEDS ASSESSMENT; REPORTING AND ANALYSIS
  • Establish relationships with campus clients, including senior leadership, and conduct ongoing assessment of unmet information needs.
  • In collaboration with team members IR&A and the larger Center for DATA, prioritize, plan, and develop new reports and visualizations as well as special analytic projects to support decision-making in the areas of student enrollment, satisfaction, and success as well as in other areas of strategic importance to campus leadership.
SURVEY DATA COLLECTION, ANALYSIS, AND REPORTING
  • Oversee surveys of students, faculty/staff, and alumni.
  • Create and revise survey instruments, administer surveys using Qualtrics, clean and recode data, conduct data analysis, and prepare reports and presentations of survey results in appropriate formats.
  • Prepare Institutional Review Board applications when needed.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in other departments on surveys of critical importance to campus, including advising on sample selection, survey instrument, and appropriate methods of analysis.
  • Coordinate/oversee campus survey activity to ensure compliance with campus survey policy including intake and evaluation of requests by others to conduct surveys of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Participate in surveys involving other IR offices within the larger USNH IR&A function that includes Keene State College, Plymouth State University, and the University of New Hampshire.
SELF-SERVICE DATA
  • Work with other IR&A team members to plan, update, and maintain internal SharePoint sites and external institutional websites as needed.
DATA SYSTEMS AND GOVERNANCE
  • Participate in efforts to streamline reporting of data on applicants, students, faculty, and other key areas.
  • Advocate for improved data governance, consistent data definitions, and standardized reporting of key institutional metrics.



QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Master’s degree in a social science field such as education, psychology, sociology,
    or economics.
  • 3 years in a social science research position.
  • Survey research experience from instrument development through data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience in research design, data analysis, and communicating research results.
  • Training in and experience using basic and complex statistical methods including chi-squared, regression, and grouping methods such as cluster analysis or latent class analysis.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel as well as statistical software such as SPSS, Stata, R, or JMP.
  • Experience using Qualtrics for survey data collection.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate results of complex analyses in a manner understandable to lay audiences, and the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels of an organization including senior leadership.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new technological tools as they develop.
  • Collaborative work style and demonstrated ability to build working relationships across department lines.

  • Ability to work with confidential data in compliance with university data security and governance requirements.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working in a higher education setting.
  • Familiarity with student information systems and relational databases.
  • Experience with reporting/business intelligence tools such as SAP BusinessObjects WebIntelligence (WebI).
  • Experience using a data visualization tool such as Tableau or PowerBI.
