RESEARCH ANALYST, Consortium on Financing Higher Education (COFHE), to support COFHE’s core activities of collecting, validating, and distributing data on admissions, financial aid, student outcomes, faculty demographics, and student enrollments. Incoming data are validated, loaded into a database, and then pushed out to an array of data delivery platforms for use by authorized campus groups. COFHE collects, synthesizes, and analyzes institutional data to support member campus decision-making. Responsibilities will involve developing clear research objectives and questions; working with COFHE staff and its member institutions to collect, test, clean, and refine data; processing definitional variations to make data comparable across member schools; producing descriptive and inferential analyses; synthesizing findings in numeric, graphical, and written forms; presenting to audiences within the COFHE community in formats and styles designed to make the data useful to policy-makers; and improving existing COFHE infrastructure and processes and providing solutions to continue refining and automating labor-intensive business processes, mainly through writing Python and SQL.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; at least two years’ quantitative social science research experience; strong research and applied statistical skills; excellent analytical, technical, and written and oral communication skills; proficiency with Excel, SPSS, Stata (or other statistical packages), and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau); proficiency with a scripting language (Python, Perl, Ruby) and proficiency with SQL and databases; technical proficiency with data testing, management, and analysis and ability to understand data content and context; project management experience and skills; ability to initiate and manage multiple tasks under competing deadlines; experience with survey research or institutional research projects; and team orientation. PREFERRED: master’s degree and work experience in higher education.
