Brief Description
Reporting to the Assistant Provost for Institutional Research and Assessment, the Institutional Research Analyst plays a crucial role in helping OIRA serve the University’s mission and support institutional effectiveness by providing technical, analytic, and coordinative support for research activities and reporting. Duties will include research design, data collection, preparation, archiving, reporting, and analysis of information in support of institutional planning, research, assessment, and evaluation activities. This position will work collaboratively with other colleagues to build a strategic approach to data structures, access, and availability.

Job Details

This position requires: 

1. Bachelor’s degree in a quantitatively driven discipline (math, statistics, computer science) or other appropriately quantitative academic discipline (e.g. sociology, economics, psychology) required. Master’s degree in such fields preferred.

2. Three or more years of demonstrated success in institutional research, enrollment management, financial aid or another data driven administrative office OR information management systems office.

3. Substantial experience using statistical software applications such as SPSS, Excel, and data visualization and dashboard software (e.g. Tableau). Programming Excel macros a plus. Examples of statistical analysis and/or dashboards will be required.

4. Experience writing SQL based queries in a student information system (Ellucian Colleague preferred) or statistical software (e.g. SAS, SPSS, STATA) required.

5. Experience creating, defining, and documenting automated processes using stages, record types, and validation rules for quality control checks of data.

6. Experience with external high-stakes compliance reporting (State, Federal IPEDS, university system, accreditation, etc) preferred.

7. Experience with college guidebook (e.g. US News, College Board) submission processes and benchmarking (e.g. Student Achievement Measure) preferred.

8. Knowledge of survey research processes and assessment software platforms a plus.

9. Experience with time-management software (eg: Asana) preferred.

10. Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently are essential.

11. Effective oral and written communication and excellent interpersonal skills.

12. Successful completion of a set of interviews, and a data skills assessment.

13. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
