Brief Description
The Assistant Director of Institutional Research is responsible for managing external data reporting and providing data assistance to institutional research, evaluation, and assessment projects used to support institutional decision making, policy formation, mission, and strategic planning. The position reports to the Assistant Vice President of Institutional Planning and Effectiveness and works within the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Sponsored Projects (of the Provost’s Office). This position also works closely with the Assistant Director of Retention and Assessment and with the University’s Accreditation Liaison Officer to the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) while serving all institution units to manage federally mandated reporting.

Job Details

Essential Duties
• Maintain updates to institutional research and analytics that support for strategic planning, University decision-making, and policy analysis (e.g., key performance indicators, annual census).
• Manage mandated external reporting and serve as the main contact for IPEDS, gainful employment regulations, and external surveys such as US News, Barron’s, Peterson’s, etc.
• Submit data as part of annual and cyclical MSCHE reporting in partnership with the Accreditation Liaison Officer.
• Manage internal and external requests for institutional data such as key performance indicators.
• Utilize existing technology to provide accessible, timely, statistical analyses and projections, and actionable data for strategic projects (e.g., Argos or Tableau dashboards).
• Work with Banner module leaders and Information Technology to enforce data governance standards that keeps institutional data clean.
• Support academic departments to fulfill data needs and concerns for accreditation reports and surveys.
• Support programs of professional development for student learning assessment, institutional data use, and other institutional effectiveness activities.
• Assists in data collection, management, cleanup, and storage as necessary
• Provides survey development and administration support (e.g., Qualtrics support).
• Develops and maintains positive and professional customer service and/or relations within the office/department and with all constituencies to include students, faculty, staff, guests, and employees.
• Demonstrates a positive and professional attitude and treats everyone with dignity and respect.

Required Qualifications
• Master’s degree in information technology, computer science, analytics or related field.
• Minimum 5 years relevant experience.
• Expert-level experience with Banner (or Colleague) in conjunction with data reporting tools (e.g., Argos, Tableau, Cognos, PowerBI).
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated ability to write and interpret complex SQL queries.
• Experience with math/statistical software packages (e.g., R, Python, WEKA, MATLAB, etc.).
• A positive attitude and ability to plan and adapt to change.
• Demonstrated understanding of the application of technology to deliver information according to end-user specifications.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively multitask a wide variety of unrelated projects while under firm deadlines.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and with college departments across the University and cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in information technology, computer science, analytics or related field.
• Proven record of successful supervisory experience in a people-oriented environment.
