Job Details
In this important capacity, the Executive Director works closely with the President’s Office, Provost’s Office, and Chief Operating Officer’s team and their staffs, as well as across the College more broadly with the Dean’s Office, Admissions Office, Registrar and Faculty, to support data provisioning and analysis and to establish priorities for institutional research and assessment.  The Executive Director coordinates data analysis across the College, with particular focus on refining and improving College-wide data standards and policies. The Executive Director leads the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment, ensuring accurate and timely research, responsible data stewardship, thorough institutional assessment, and with the goal of enabling informed decision-making by the various units of the College. 

Primary Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•    Deliver policy and planning recommendations to the senior administration and other constituencies.
•    Provide accurate and timely data and analysis in support of College departments and Committees.
•    Coordinate data gathering from students, administrative offices, faculty, staff, and alumnae throughout the College through the application and development of surveys and related tools.
•    Communicate information pertaining to institutional research and assessment to a wide variety of local and national constituencies.
•    Facilitate the collection and archiving of college facts, figures, and reports, including those administered on behalf of the government and other external agencies.
•    Support and help lead the multiple reporting, data, and evaluative processes required for Middle States Accreditation and annual institutional reports including IPEDS, NYS Department of Education (NYSED), COFHE, and AAUP Compensation Surveys.
 
•    Work closely with the Provost and the Dean of the College, developing and implementing practices for the assessment of student learning outcomes, general education goals, and pedagogic methods.
•    Train members of the campus community about best practices for the retrieval and usage of data.
•    Determine priorities for analytical exercises for each academic year; work with office heads to determine data and reporting needs of various departments and programs.
•    Determine policies and procedures for the sharing of data and data storage.
•    Serve as the campus contact for external organizations involved in institutional research.
•     Coordinate the work of the Institutional Research and Assessment Committee (IRAC) and other campus committees as needed to develop protocols for data sharing and to establish priorities for institutional research and assessment.
•    Serve as a member of the Data Governance Council for the College to address data integrity, security, and risks related to College use and collection of data.
•    Serve as a member of the President’s Council.

Knowledge, Background, and Skills
•    Excellent statistical and analytical skills, with an ability to explain complex data analysis to a diverse set of constituencies.
•    Excellent judgment, discretion, accuracy, and attention to detail.
•    Demonstrated knowledge of data collection and institutional reporting.
•    Knowledge and facility with diverse software and data retrieval systems.
•    Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and work collaboratively with various academic and administrative partners.
•    Demonstrated knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods, statistics, Microsoft Excel, and relational databases.
•    Knowledge of state and federal requirements for the gathering, reporting, and dissemination of data from higher education institutions.

Qualifications
•    PhD or advanced degree in a discipline with a statistical focus.
•    Minimum 7 years’ experience in institutional research and assessment in higher education
•    Three years of management/supervisory experience.
•    Extensive experience with both database management systems (including the extraction of such data) and analyzing and interpreting complex data sets.
•    Experience with regulatory reporting and survey management.
•    Experience with institutional accreditation.
